Many families with young kids are on tighter budgets for a variety of reasons. And even if the family isn't stretched financially, they're still challenged to find productive, fun things to do. I did a quick google search today to find inspiration and found this post on line by Leo Babauta about 100 inexpensive ways to have fun with the kids:
So many are just normal things, but its good to see them in a list; sometimes you need to "remember" the things you used to love to do. But some things we will be trying this summer (in no order):
Learn and tell each other jokes.
Prank call their grandparents, using disguised, humorous voices.
Do shadow puppets.
Pitch a tent and sleep outside with marshmallows.
Donate stuff to charity.
Do a science experiment.
Write letters to family.
Go to the zoo.
Have a sunset picnic at a park or beach.
Write stories together.
