Valerie Ferrebee is a Community Volunteer for AARP CT also serving on their Executive Council. A lifetime resident of CT, Valerie has always focused her professional life serving others and their needs. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Connecticut where she studied Child Development and Family Relations that took her to St. Croix where she worked as a Social Worker for some time then taking her skill sets to the College of U.S. Virgin Islands Extension Services. Valerie returned to CT where she began a 20 year career with AT & T working in the field of technical engineering and planning until her retirement in 2006. Valerie continued her role in serving others through volunteer work at a variety of organizations including the American Red Cross, Literacy Volunteers and Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic. Currently Valerie spends a good amount of her volunteer time, advocating and educating others in her role at AARP CT. She has spent time helping to expand the knowledge of others in the area of caregiving, future life planning, reimagining life, financial security and health care. Her passion and humor are balanced with her love of travel, reading, dance and lots of crossword puzzles.
